Carlos Tevez gave Juventus a narrow 1-0 victory over AC Milan in a possible early-season Scudetto decider at the San Siro.
Tevez’ second half goal gave Max Allegri a positive return to the San Siro where he was sacked just over a year ago after being scapegoated for the club’s demise.
The first half started slowly as Juventus kept the ball and were forced to take shots from distance to trouble Milan – clearly missing the talents of Arturo Vidal on the bench.
Juve took control in the second half as Pippo Inaghi’s men struggled to test Gianluigi Buffon in goal despite an array of attacking talents.
The decision to leave Fernando Torres on the bench and not hand him his debut could well have swung the game.
The game ended 1-0 leaving the Rossoneri with their first defeat of the season while Juventus maintain their 100% record and go top of Serie A.
KEY MOMENTS
26’ – GOOD SAVE! – Abbiati is out quickly to save low as Llorente finds himself free in the box but the veteran keeper is able to block the ball wide.
32’ – GOOD CHANCE! – Pogba finds himself in space on the edge of the area and lets fly from distance but his left footed strike is shanked just wide.
40’ – QUICK BREAK! – Menez breaks the length of the pitch but is pushed wide by Lichsteiner. He manages to get a shot away from distance though which Buffon can’t hold but saves well.
65’ – CHANCE! – Poli wanders into the penalty area with the ball and is forced to shoot off-balance as he is tripped before just curling the ball wide of the post.
71’ – GOAL! - Lovely goal as Tevez latches on to a beautiful dinked pass by Pogba into the penalty area before coolly slotting past the helpless Abbiati.
